We are a Nature-lovers’ Heaven

Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve is fast becoming renowned as a popular getaway for people who love being immersed in nature. The scenic surrounds include spectacular views of the Lubombo Mountains and Lake Jozini.

The reserve is set in a stunning mix of acacia bushveld; fever-tree riverine; Marula forests; open plains and craggy mountain escarpment while the seasonal flood plains on the western shore offer wonderful game viewing.

Royal Jozini is also a utopia for bird watching, with birdsong ringing at each lodge. (How many of the 450 species will you be able to spot?!) Game is abundant, and includes elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino (on occasion – they roam between us and Pongola Game Reserve), zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, water buck, kudu, jackal, hyena, crocodile and hippo. One of many memorable outings is game viewing, by boat, on Lake Jozini. Just close your eyes and imagine floating along, sipping sundowners with your soulmate by your side, and an uncut view of Africa at its finest, all along the shoreline. You have to see it to believe it!

We are Wildlife Management

The wildlife management plan for Royal Jozini, prepared by professor Jeremy Ridl, includes vegetation management (with invasive plant eradication and controlled burning programs), game introductions, game monitoring and on-going management as well as the development and maintenance of all that is required to maintain and protect this Big 5 reserve.

The application of sound wildlife management practices ensures excellent wildlife viewing and a great variety of game.

We are a Transfrontier park

Our modern lives and sense of nationality may be governed by boundaries and fences, yet the natural world doesn’t create borders between countries as humans do. Animals roam freely within their natural habitats regardless of the country that habitat falls into and conservation areas and ecological systems frequently span multiple countries.

This forms the basis and reason for the creation of Transfrontier Parks in Southern Africa, where a number of parks and wildlife reserves in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, eSwatini (Swaziland) and South Africa have been restructured to form borderless conservation areas – both for the protection of flora and fauna; and to allow the public an even broader experience of all that Southern Africa has to offer.

The Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve is situated within the Lake Jozini Transfrontier Park, in the Nsubane-Pongola Transfrontier Conservation Area. Shared by South Africa and eSwatini (The Land of the Swazis) , the proposed area will eventually cover 650km² and incorporate the whole of Lake Jozini.

Co-operation between South Africa and eSwatini and a pooling of skills and resources will keep the best interests of the environment at heart. The joint management plan for the park will promote sound wildlife management practices to ensure an excellent wildlife viewing product at Royal Jozini.
